Empower Oklahomans to eliminate our state’s barriers to growth and opportunity.

Tax Increases Are Moving Fast! Take Action Now!

Well, that didn’t take long! Not even a week into the 2018 Legislative session and multiple bills to raise taxes on low- and middle-income Oklahomans and small businesses have passed committee. Some can now be voted on by the full state House of Representatives as early as Monday.

We need your help to stop HB 1037, which the House will likely consider on Monday, and HB 2403, which may soon be voted on by the state Senate. Together, these two bills would raise income taxes by nearly $150 million on working Oklahoma families and small businesses.

HB 1037 increases income taxes by $41 million on low- and middle-income working families by reducing the standard deduction and increasing a family’s taxable income. HB 2403 would cap itemized deductions on home mortgage interest, excessive medical bills and other expenses working families and small business owners face, further raising income taxes by over $100 million.

Tax hikes harm efforts to build a diversified state economy and will punish Oklahoma families and small businesses. Instead, lawmakers should focus on targeted spending cuts and ending the mismanagement of state government.
